Harvest Ridge Vision & Mission
Vision: The educational vision of Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School rests in the belief that partnerships build communities. Founded on the teacher/student/parent partnership, we will cultivate a cooperative community, celebrating the unique contributions of each individual and promoting cognitive, imaginative, physical, emotional, social, civic and creative growth and development of all students. Our pledge is to provide high quality educational services intended to enhance the joy of learning for all and to inspire a commitment to lifelong learning.
Through personalizing the educational experience of each child, we seek to enable students to make relevant connections between the curriculum and the world around them. Environmental stewardship, National/Global citizenship and service learning will be woven into the fabric of our curriculum in order to promote a strong social ethic in our student population. Multi-grade classrooms and strong mentoring programs further develop a sense of community, encouraging all members of the school to work together to promote the success of each learner. Enrichment classes organized through parent-teacher partnerships, take students further outside the classroom and into their community and environment, exchanging ideas, sharing discoveries and making connections with peers in other educational programs, locally and globally.
Our staff members are highly skilled, life-long learners and are supported in their endeavors to refine their craft. A team leadership approach encourages strong professional ethics, monitors progress toward achieving our goals and ensures that we are effectively utilizing available financial and human resources to maximize student performance.
Mission Statement and Educational Philosophy: Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School is committed to nurturing the whole student by cultivating high academic achievement and strong social development. By encouraging students to discover and pursue their interests, talents, and passions, Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School and its community partners enable students to become self-motivated, competent, and life long learners of the 21st Century and active contributors to the community, while pursuing academic excellence. Our dynamic, collaborative learning model emphasizes experiential instruction, social, civic and environmental consciousness, and an awareness of each student’s unique potential. Students are empowered to become positive contributors to society through partnerships with education specialists, parents, peers, and within the community. |

Weekly Update 5/12/12 Learning Conference Potluck & Parent Participation Night: Please join us this Wednesday, May 16th, for our last Learning Conference of the school year. We will be running two sessions for the Learning Conferences. Just a reminder that there is no childcare available for this evening. We understand that this can be a challenge, and appreciate the effort that it takes to organize attending. The first session will begin at 5:30, and the second will take place at 6:00. We are hoping that parents with more than two students will plan on attending together and splitting up to catch all conferences. At 6:30, we will head out back for a potluck dinner. Please bring a potluck item of your choice to share. Water and lemonade will be provided for all. During the potluck we will be discussing our revised Parent Participation Policy for next year, and signing up for parent participation jobs. All parents are asked to sign up for two jobs, and this is the night to do it! We will keep sign-ups open for one week after the potluck. Any parents who have not signed up for their jobs by May 23rd will be assigned their jobs. See you Wednesday! Spring Pictures Wednesday: The photographers will be back this Wednesday to take spring pictures for those who are interested. Picture order forms went home last week, but please see Miss Cathy if yours didn’t arrive. These need to be paid for by picture day in order to receive pictures. Please make sure eighth graders are taking their pictures, as we will be using these for graduation certificates. (No payment necessary for eighth grade certificates.) International Night/Open House: Please plan on joining us for a fun evening of fellowship and food at our second annual evening. All family members are welcome to attend and see what’s happening in our classes. Classrooms will be open from 6:00-8:00pm. This is a great opportunity bring the grandparents as well, and check out our fantastic kids at Harvest Ridge! Talent Show a Success! A huge THANK YOU to Miss Cathy, Nancy Hinton, Elizabeth Reuter, and Tanya Moman for all of their hard work with our Talent Show. A fantastic job was done by all the participants! It was such fun to see the very talented students at our school. Wanted! Seventh Graders for Next Year! Do you know any 7th graders who are looking for a change? We have openings! Please help support our school and our program by passing along the word. Help Wanted: We have a few jobs that need completed as we wrap up the school year. This is a great opportunity to finish up hours if you are in need, and can be done according to your own schedule. Please let Miss Cathy or Janet Sutton know if you can help. *Weed and trim the front planter in front of the school (this could be tackled by a couple of families at once) *Mow the front lawns (This needs to be done at least once a week. Please sign up for a week!) *Weed-wack along the parking lot Please keep in mind that we do not have a paid position to do these jobs, so we rely on your support to help keep our school going.
